GRECO BAND PRESENTS
SEASON FINALE
The Dominic Greco
Concert Band, under the direction of Frederick Delphia will conclude the
2010 summer concert season at
Tuscora
Park
on Friday, August 20, beginning at 7:00 p.m. This date is a schedule
change from the concert originally scheduled for Saturday, August 21.
The season finale
concert will feature several of the most requested numbers played
throughout the summer, along with new arrangements never before performed
by the Dominic Greco Band. Dixieland,
overtures, marches, big band, movie themes, vocal and instrumental
features will be part of this final 2010 program.
According to Delphia,
the concert will begin with the
music from the movie, THE BIG
COUNTRY, followed by the popular, RAYMOND
OVERTURE. Vocal soloist Ron Barkett will take center stage to, I GOT PLENTY OF NUTTIN, along with a medley of DANNY BOY and AMAZING GRACE. The
tuba section will be featured on a march titled, THEM BASSES, and a new original march, THE GRECO BAND MARCH written by a California composer, will be
premiered.
“Our closing concert
always has special meaning to us,” said Delphia. “We have had a
wonderful season with this band, which has numbered nearly 100 volunteer
members. This is a large band for a community band, and it says a great
deal about the musical talent we have in our area.
“I hope to have a
big crowd for this concert to honor the dedicated Greco Band musicians for
the time and talent they have shared with our audiences. It will be a
wonderful evening of entertaining concert band music,” the director
concluded.
